Ladies and Gentlemen,

Welcome to the NATO Mission Iraq Pre-Deployment Training (NMI PDT) 23-3 for which you have successfully registered. NMI PDT 23-3 will be delivered in the period 09-20 October 2023 in two phases. Phase 1 (Virtual Training Phase) will be conducted during the period 09-13 October 2023 as an online Distributed Learning Package (DLP) making use of the NATO Joint Advanced Distributed Learning (JADL) platform for all registered personnel.  Phase 2 (Residential Training Phase), it will be conducted during the period 16-20 October 2023 at the JFTC, Bydgoszcz, Poland for selected personnel, regarding the positions you are going to fill in the theatre. Participants should check “JFCNP Invitation Letter to Troop Contributing Nations” (uploaded in the JFTC registration webpage) for posts that are required to attend Phase 2, regarding their crisis establishment (CE) number. 

Mandatory Prerequisite Online Training. Personnel force generated for assignment to NATO Mission Iraq are to complete the Joint Advanced Distribution Learning (JADL) Courses "355 Cyber Hygiene" and “336 Building Integrity (BI) Awareness”, and present a hard copy of the completion certificates during in-processing on arrival in theatre. The courses are accessible in the https://jadl.act.nato.int web site under COURSES » NATO COMMAND STRUCTURE ENTITIES (NCS) »North Atlantic Treaty Organization Headquarters (NATO HQ). Once completed, certificates of the courses will be available in the users’ CERTIFICATES field in the jadl website.

Attendees to the residential phase should report for in-processing at JFTC between 0800-2000hrs Central European Summer Time (CEST) on Sunday 15 October 2023. At in-processing, all participants must provide the following documents: NATO or national SECRET (but all written in English) security clearance; NATO Travel Order, only for those who are part of NATO and work under the ministry of defense; NATO or National Military ID Card (for civilians – national ID card). Soldiers and personnel of foreign armed forces arriving at the territory of the Republic of Poland are required to complete the Epidemiological Questionnaire (attached to the JFTC registration webpage – under the “JFTC Epidemiological Protection” file) no later than 5 days prior to arrival at the territory of the Republic of Poland and send it to [email protected] and cc [email protected] and [email protected]

TCON - Training Control (training team/subject matter experts/supporters/observers) members should report for in-processing at JFTC between 0800-1800 Central European Summer Time (CEST) on Friday13 October 2023.

NMI PDT 23-3 Phase-1 (Virtual Training Phase) is hosted on the NATO JADL platform. All participants will work online (via open internet) for approximately seven working hours per day during the training event. The daily curriculum will consist of individual work-through material, quizzes, discussion forums and real-time Question & Answer sessions with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). This portion of the training will be restricted to UNCLASSIFIED content only, due to the use of commercial and open communication systems. All classified information will be delivered during the residential training at JFTC and mandatory training upon arrival in-theatre.

The online training package will open on Monday 09 October 2023 at 0800hrs CEST. Students can only move on to the course content for the following day once they have completed the daily course schedule.

The detailed synchronized attendance plan for live sessions is published and updated on the JADL course page, daily. It is strongly recommended that all students check the live session plan every day no later than 1000hrs CEST. Daily live chat sessions with SMEs will provide the opportunity to directly engage with experts as well as personnel currently in-theatre. Additionally, online discussion forums will be available 24/7 between 09 October 2023 (0800hrs CEST) and 13 October 2023 (1700hrs CEST) for you to discuss course content and NMI related issues with other students as well as personnel from theatre, JFCNP and the JFTC. 

Admission to JADL groups and courses will be managed by JFTC Training Control (TCON) team according to Training Audience’s aforementioned credentials in the JFTC event registration database. Therefore, it is essential that all participants use a valid JADL username in JFTC event registration form. Should you change or acquire new JADL username after registration, make sure to update your JADL username in the JFTC event registration form (https://events.jftc.nato.int/).

During the event, the JFTC TCON team will monitor the progress of students and provide individual support, if required. After completing all daily learning packages, you will be able to download and print your certificate for successful completion of the virtual phase of the training.

The JFTC TCON Team will conduct a mandatory connectivity test in order to validate credentials and necessary technical requirements. To conduct the connectivity test, you are required to access the JADL NMI PDT 23-3 course start page between 05 October (0800hrs CEST) – 06 October (0759hrs CEST)The JADL NMI PDT 23-3 course page can be found under NATO EDUCATION & TRAINING FACILITIES (NETF) > JFTC in the https://jadl.act.nato.int web site. Once you open the NMI PDT 
23-3 course start page, click on the blue ‘Connectivity Test Banner on the top of the page to initiate the connectivity test. Then click on the available course module on the following page to finish the test. Additional / Supplementary Training Opportunities.  Though this is not a mandatory part of this event, there are a number of additional ADL Courses (listed below) that you are advised to consider completing prior to deployment to HQ NMI.  The courses listed are not particularly demanding, but will provide additional knowledge in specific areas, aiding your broader understanding and possible response to just some of the situations that you may encounter during your deployment.
